My name is Alan Glover, and I am based in the Black Country, where I have lived all of my life. I have been taking photographs for as long as I can remember, but the day job has always got in the way though.....until now.
Over the last couple of years I have been particularly interested in using historic photographic processes to create images that are more 'painterly'. I guess this comes out of the desire to create an image which is perhaps more artistic in nature, and certainly each of the images produced using these techniques will be by their nature completely unique. I have no real talent for painting or drawing, so working with an image as a start point is perfect for me!
I do take 'ordinary' photographs of course, plenty of them, and of pretty much anything and everything that catches my eye. Some of these are on the website too. I would like to work more on portraits, and lifestyle photography and also of course explore many of the different historic processes that I havent yet had time to play with.
Most of the prints on the site can be re-produced for you, although by nature of the processes, they will be slightly different to what you see in the gallery. It will still of course be unique and therefore be your own original piece of artwork.
