This new piece was intended more as an experiment. Although a lot of my work is monochrome I don't often get deep blacks, so I decided to see whether I could get a black black. This is a 3 layer gum print of a study from an image of a fabulous lectern at a local historic site. I am afraid I cannot recall who the face is supposed to be of...but am looking into it. For now I am pleased how it came out, with the highlights almost reduced to just marks, but it is clear what the image is...and those black tones for me are exactly what I was looking for, another lesson learned!
